Go Go runs in the
locals veins. And if you spent two days about town you to will
experience Go Go. Been to the MCI Center lately or one of the city's
many festival Go Go was there. And if you were lucky enough to
be around for the last act at this years 'Taste of DC'
you experienced Go Go at it best, from Go Go's God 'father',
Chuck Brown...
Go Go is a style
well suited to DC's ease - laid back sophisticated style. Here's
how Chuck Puts it "Disco was to fast people didn't want
to get all sweaty, and they just sat down. So we cut the beat
in half".
'We the
People' hit the airways in 1971, followed in 1978 by the gold
album 'Bustin Loose' with the #1 hit single 'Bustin Loose. God
'father' Brown was on a roll other hits followed 'Be Bumpin
'Fresh', 'Run Joe', 'Day-O', 'Back it On Up', 'We
Need Some Money'.... Keep on rollin Chuck.. 'Ha,
wind me up, Chuck.... Then,
Chuck did the unthinkable adding Jazz to his repertoire. It
seem so radical at the time, but Chuck the visionary knew what
he was up to when he released 'Go Go Swing'. And Chucks
work with the late Eva Cassidy is timeless.. It
easy to imagine why Chuck Brown has been a staple in DC night
for the past Thirty years. For those with doubts click
